Literaturstipendium im Bodmanhaus 2027

Die Thurgauische Bodman-Stiftung vergibt jährlich zwei Literaturstipendien an Autorinnen und Autoren für einen Aufenthalt im Bodmanhaus / Literaturhaus Thurgau, in Gottlieben, Schweiz. Das «Literaturstipendium im Bodmanhaus» bietet professionellen Autorinnen und Autoren aus dem In- und Ausland die Möglichkeit, zwei Monate in Ruhe schreiben zu können.

Das Literaturstipendium wird von der Kulturstiftung des Kantons Thurgau gefördert und unterstützt.

Zielgruppe / Grundbedingungen:

  1. Professionell schreibende Autorinnen und Autoren, die bereits mindestens eine schriftstellerische Veröffentlichung vorweisen können; ausgeschlossen sind Autoren und Autorinnen, die ausschliesslich im Selbstverlag oder über Print-on-Demand publizieren.
  2. Alle literarischen Gattungen, auch Sachbücher mit literarischem Aspekt oder literarische Übersetzungen, nicht aber Hörspiele und Librettos
  3. Gute Sprachkenntnisse in einer Landessprache der Schweiz oder Englisch.

Ausstattung des Literaturstipendiums:

  • Zweimonatiger Aufenthalt ab März bis Dezember 2027 in der Schreibwohnung im Bodmanhaus
  • Pauschaler Beitrag an die Lebenshaltungskosten in der Höhe von monatlich CHF 4’000
  • Beitrag von 10% des Stipendiums an eine Vorsorgeeinrichtung für die soziale Sicherheit wie z.B. Deutsche Künstlersozialkasse, freiwillige Pensionskasse, dritte Säule u.a. (Entsprechende Angaben zur Institution können nach Zusage des Stipendiums erfolgen.)
  • Freiheit in der zeitlichen Ausgestaltung des Aufenthalts und des schriftstellerischen Vorhabens.
  • Bestehen familiäre Betreuungspflichten, bittet die Geschäftsstelle der Thurgauischen Bodman-Stiftung nach Vergabe des Stipendiums um Kontaktaufnahme, um konkret zu besprechen, wie der Aufenthalt erleichtert und unterstützt werden kann.
  • Keine Vergütung von Reisekosten
  • Die Stipendiatin / der Stipendiat organisiert die Reise und allenfalls das Visum für die Schweiz selbst.

Eine Jury, bestehend aus drei Fachpersonen, wählt aus den Eingaben zwei Begünstigte aus. Die Entscheidung der Jury wird voraussichtlich bis Ende November 2026 schriftlich bekannt gegeben.

Auswahlkriterien:

  • Die Grundbedingungen 1, 2 und 3 müssen erfüllt sein.
  • Aufgrund des Motivationsschreibens, des Lebenslaufs und der Publikationsliste ist nachvollziehbar, dass ein Aufenthalt im Bodmanhaus in der gegenwärtigen Schaffensphase einen wichtigen Beitrag zu einem Projekt oder zum Finden eines neuen Projekts leisten wird.
  • Ein spezifisches Interesse am Thurgau und der Region ist nicht notwendig, kann aber für ein Gesuch sprechen.

Die Ausschreibung erfolgt ausschliesslich über die Homepage www.bodmanhaus.ch. Das Online-Anmeldeformular wird am 19. September 2026 aufgeschaltet. Das Ausschreibungsfenster ist bis zum 25. September 2026 auf der Webseite geöffnet.

Writer-in-Residence Fellowship at the Bodmanhaus 2027

Every year, the Thurgau Bodman Foundation awards two literary fellowships to authors for a stay at the Bodmanhaus / House of Literature Thurgau, situated in Gottlieben, Switzerland. The “Writer-in-Residence at the Bodmanhaus” offers professional authors from Switzerland and abroad the opportunity to spend two months writing in peace.

The fellowship is sponsored and supported by the Cultural Foundation of the Canton of Thurgau.

Target groups / basic conditions:

  1. Professionally writing authors who already have at least one published literary work to their credit. Authors who publish exclusively in self-publishing or via print-on-demand are not eligible.
  2. all literary genres, including non-fiction books with a literary aspect or literary translations, but not audio plays and librettos
  3. Good language skills in one of Switzerland’s national languages or English.

Endowment of the fellowship:

  • Two-month stay from March to December 2027 in the guest apartment at Bodmanhaus.
  • Flat-rate contribution to living expenses in the amount of CHF 4,000 per month.
  • Contribution of 10% of the fellowship to a pension fund for social security such as German artists’ social security fund, voluntary pension fund, third pillar pension fund etc. (Corresponding details of the institution can be provided after the fellowship has been awarded.)
  • Freedom in the timing and the writing project
  • If there are family care responsibilities the Bodmanhaus secretariat will ask you to contact them after the fellowship has been awarded to discuss concretely how the stay can be facilitated and supported.
  • No reimbursement of travel expenses
  • The fellowship holder organizes the travel and, if necessary, the visa for Switzerland himself/herself.

A jury consisting of three professionals will select two beneficiaries from the submissions. The jury’s decision is expected to be announced in writing by the end of November 2026.

Selection criteria:

  • Basic conditions 1, 2 and 3 must be fulfilled.
  • Based on the letter of motivation, the curriculum vitae and the list of published work, it is comprehensible that a stay at the Bodmanhaus will make an important contribution to a project or to finding a new project in the current creative phase.
  • A specific interest in Thurgau and the region is not necessary but can be an argument for an application.

The call for applications will be made exclusively via the homepage www.bodmanhaus.ch. The application form will go online on 19 September 2026. The call for entries will be open on the website until 25 September 2026.
